Alexandria shore Excursions
- What city in Egypt is Alexandria?
Alexandria, Egypt, has a long and illustrious history that dates back to 331 B.C., when Alexander the Great founded the city. Alexandria, often known as the Pearl of the Mediterranean and lovingly known as Alex by locals, is a Mediterranean port city and Egypt's second largest metropolis.
Alexandria is located on the Mediterranean Sea coast in north central Egypt. Alexandria is 225 kilometres (140 miles) northwest of Cairo, and the journey takes 2.5 to 3.5 hours depending on the road and traffic.

Docking at Alexandria port gives you convenient access to Cairo and Alexandria and start your Alexandria Shore Excursions, two of history's most important cities. Alexandria shore excursions take you to Roman and Greek tombs and antiquities, as well as the famed lighthouse of Alexandria, where the Qaitbey Citadel stands today. The Giza Pyramids, Cairo's Citadel, and Islamic Cairo are all a few hours south in Cairo.

Many visitors Enjoy Alexandria Shore Excursions as a stopover on a cruise or as a day excursion from Cairo (as we did), but it may also be a terrific place to base yourself for a few days. We'll show you how to get to and around Alexandria, as well as the best things to do in Alexandria and how to put up your own perfect Alexandria itinerary.
This Alexandria Shore Excursions are designed for cruise passengers who are stopping
in Alexandria port and want to take a quick tour of Cairo from Alexandria before returning
to the port. This journey includes a fast excursion from Alexandria port to
Cairo's landmarks, including the Giza Pyramids and the National Museum of Cairo.
- How long do I need to spend in Alexandria and what the best Alexandria Shore Excursions?
Most people can cover all of the major sites, as well as a
few minor ones, in three days in Alexandria. If you only want to see a handful
of the key sights, you can do it on a day trip from Cairo or by staying in
Alexandria for the night. If I could go back, I would have stayed in the city
for a night to see more sights.
